Paul has been starting and growing new companies ever since his high school days. EarthWatch was the world’s first 3-D weather graphics system, tapped by Steven Spielberg in “Jurassic Park” and “Twister”. With Digital Cyclone Douglas led the first team to ever launch software on cell phones in 2001. Today “My-Cast” is used by hundreds of thousands of subscribers on cell phones to help them plan their days, make smarter decisions, save time and money and keep their families safer. Douglas sold Digital Cyclone to Garmin, Inc in early 2007, allowing him to focus on his current projects: “WeatherNation LLC” and “Singular Logic LLC”. WeatherNation is outsourcing complete weather shows to legacy media and new media from an HD Weather Studio in Excelsior, Minnesota. Singular Logic is a technology and patent company launched to reinvent advertising by allowing consumers to choose the categories of ads they want to see on TV, cable, on-line and mobile. Douglas explains the genesis of starting a new company, what he’s learned (the hard way), offering advice for start-ups and established companies trying to compete in an increasingly competitive, fast-paced world.
